Yellowstone!

This piece is a studio piece painted from Plein air sketches and photographs. It was from a trip to Yellowstone Park a couple of years ago traveling with my 90 year old father, who is also a painter. Our time together in the park, though just a few days, was magical. It was fall and the air was crisp. I was very much thrilled to be there, have my Dad to myself and to be alive. When we stopped just after the entrance and took in the scene, I knew I had to paint it.
It is painted in oil and alkyds on a mounted panel.
