Remember when hay bales were all rectangles? I loved them. I loved their geometry. Then they all slowly became giant rolls. Weirdly shiny rolls. Up close you can see the shine comes from netting holding them together. Monet was well known for paintings of hay stacks, another shape all together. So it’s quite fun for me as a modern day version of an Impressionist to paint the modern day hay forms. As with most things once I start painting it I fall in love. The organic shape! That glorious shine from the netting!
