Morning Has Broken 24x18

For about 10 years (1987-1996), the beginning of the “Plein Air” movement, which was begun by Denise Burns, had it's beginning on Catalina Island. Denise invited about 24 artists to participate in a week long paint out, working out of Avalon, and often traveling to the far side of the island. And all of the art that week went on display at The Casino Ball Room.

This was one of my largest pieces I had ever attempted to paint on location, 24x18. It was on the road from Avalon to the “other side” of the island, and I think I was one of the few who ever saw the power and beauty of this magnificent Euc.
