Flowery Path

Based on a plein air study, I repainted this when I realized my flowers were too exuberant and large in the background and were fighting with my desire to create depth in this landscape. I love the fact that oil paint allows an artist to make corrections - sometimes days, sometimes years later - when the editing eye sees something isn't working. It's so encouraging to feel that a work is still open for experimentation and improvement.
