This is a painting of where my wife, our one year old daughter and I currently live as we transition between homes in Alaska. From where I stand/where the viewer stands, the path runs up a steep slope lined with birch, two abandoned cars and a dilapidated treehouse. Painted a month ago, our apartment is located in the top floor of the building on the left. It is part of a large, industrial complex. Beyond this quiet view, just over the hill, is a bustling industrial scene with dozens of trucks, vans, tractor trailers, shipping containers and a busy highway. I wanted to make a painting that speaks to these two tandem realities of the Alaskan landscape- the natural and the industrial.
