String of Pearls

From the highest ridge in San Clemente, CA, is visible the Catalina Channel, Catalina Island, and a rooftops-view of my hometown. The combination of artificial and natural light at this time was intriguing to me. The night was warm as I set up my easel--using my Doug-Woodman-constructed night light, I blocked in the horizon and major forms, and general sky effect, over a 2-hour period. Back home I let the painting sit a bit before I decided upon the very final accents in considering specific lights and their color temperatures.
